Mental maps are concrete representations of non-concrete subjects (and I don’t mean “The walkway is made of concrete”). It is a depiction of perception or fictitious subjects. An excellent example of this would be an artist’s rendering of the Disc, a fictional world that serves as the setting for author Terry Pratchett’s satirical novels. The author himself does not hold to any exact geography, for, as he put it, “You can’t map a sense of humor.”
